Welcome!

Welcome to the Math in Minneapolis blog. Here I'll share math tips, rocking resources, articulate articles, wonderful websites...you get the idea.

This site is designed for student mathematicians and families at the elementary level, but will offer a broad range of topics that may prove helpful and interesting to all. May is the key word here. I'm making no promises.

As a teacher, I am passionate about math education and value math as crucial piece in equitable education. All students deserve a strong math education. In many cases their lives and livelihood depend on it. I firmly believe all students can succeed in math. Check out this article from the Atlantic for more in this vein.

Because I'm a huge fan of word problems here's one for the road. This particular problem is a nod to Diary of a Wimpy Kid's Greg and his little brother, Manny.
  • Greg has 36 video games he hopes to hide equally in 4 different rooms from his brother Manny. How many games can he hide in each room?

Happy *mathing! *Not yet a real word. I'm thinking it may catch on like google.
